Our facilitators are ACPE Certified Educators, working chaplains, and pastoral theologians from across traditions. Each cohort is held by faculty whose own practice keeps them honest, generous, and present.

Rev. Brittany Powell, M.Div. (she/they) is the Co-founder of The Sacred CPE Training Institute. She is a chaplain educator, ordained preacher, and womanist theologian. She has recently served as the Assistant Director of Training and Development for NYC Health and Hospitals. A proud graduate of the Interdenominational Theological Center and Spelman College, she has a deep commitment to the spiritual health of the communities she serves and belongs to. With a lens of race, age, gender, sexual orientation, and class, she is committed to training the next generation of chaplains, clergy, activists, and LGBT youth to address spiritual health, systemic oppression, and the nuances of human experiences in the field of spiritual care. She has worked at hospitals across the nation such as Johns Hopkins Hospital, Penn State Health, and Mary Washington, to name a few. She was recently nominated as one of 100 emerging leaders to watch by the National Black Justice Coalition. She is a proud member of Sigma Gamma Rho!

Brandy Renée McMurry is a native of Northern California. She was baptized and raised in the Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Dr. Marvis V. Peoples, pastor. She graduated from San Francisco State University earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. In the year 2000, after much struggle, prayer and contemplation, she humbly acknowledged and submitted to her call in ministry. She was licensed to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ on June 29, 2003 and ordained into Gospel Ministry on May 28, 2006.

Brandy graduated from the Morehouse School of Religion, the Baptist constituency of the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia, earning dual degrees: the Master of Divinity in Psychology of Religion & Pastoral Care and Counseling and the Master of Arts in Christian Education. She was a member of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, Faith and the City, and the Faith Advisory Council, and the recipient of seven scholarship awards, two from the United Negro College Fund. She has traveled extensively throughout Israel studying the footsteps of Jesus Christ and throughout Greece and Asia Minor studying the footsteps of the Apostle Paul. She served as Vice President of the Interdenominational Theological Center's Student Christian League Executive Council; as Director of Christian Education in College Park, GA, Conyers, GA, and Alexandria, LA; as Youth & Young Adult Pastor in Berkeley, CA; and as a Chaplain at Southern Regional Medical Center, Grady Memorial Hospital, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Scottish Rite, and Baylor, Scott & White in Dallas, TX. She published an article in the Impact National Newsletter, entitled 'The Liaison: Bridging the Gap between Clergy and Politicians,' and co-authored Daughters of the Desert: The Journey towards Letting Go, Surrendering and Trusting God.

Brandy was nationally certified through the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. at The Johns Hopkins Health System in Baltimore, Maryland as an Associate Certified Educator while serving as the Executive Pastor of City of Life Ministries. Currently, Brandy is serving as the Chaplain Supervisor and Certified Chaplain Educator on the Mission Bay campus of UCSF Medical Center and UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals in San Francisco, California. She is the proud co-founder of The Sacred CPE Training Institute.
